I found love at the haven!
Demi and I came from the same abuse/neglect situation. Our former owner was in declining health. As his health declined, so did his ability to care for us. Our stalls were knee-high with filth when a nice group rescued us. The Haven contacted the rescue and said that they wanted to offer a forever home to all of the rescue’s horses that could not be ridden.
I am very slow to trust new people, so it took me a little while to get used to my new surroundings. I used to play pranks on the people at the Haven. I would let them get close enough to give me a treat, but not close enough to put on my halter. As I got used to the routine here, I became less nervous and much more relaxed.
Then, a few months after I moved to the Haven, a magical thing happened…Rosita moved in! It was love at first sight. Now, Rosita and I have stalls right across from each other and we share the same turnout during the day. I couldn’t be happier! I wanted to make a good impression on Rosita, so I stopped playing pranks and I am just a very good boy now!
