I chose my home

I’m not sure how long I was wandering around on my own before I found Heritage Haven, but it must have been a while because by the time I arrived I was emaciated, completely covered in fleas, and missing most of the fur on my ears due to flystrike. I was also missing patches of fur around my neck, probably from breaking away from confinement.

I walked by Heritage Haven a few times but I kept my distance so that no one noticed me. One day I walked up to the house to take a closer look. I heard a dog inside barking a lot. A lady came outside to see me. I was really scared of people, so I ran away from her.

Suddenly I realized that she had led me into an enclosure. I stayed at the far end of the enclosure. She brought food and water and then left. I was really hungry and thirsty. I waited until she walked away and then I ate and drank everything that she left for me. I had bad experiences being trapped by humans, so after I finished the food and water I jumped out of the enclosure and ran away. I had another cold, lonely, scary night outside by myself.

In the morning, I decided to go back to Heritage Haven. I walked up to the house and the lady came out again. I was welcomed into the Heritage Haven family and I have never looked back!
