Tell your friends about me!

I'm a Holstein who is a whole lot of fun!

If you’ve met me, you probably can’t believe this, but people used to say that I was a downer. I was born at a dairy farm.  Very soon after I was born, I was taken from my mom.  In addition to needing affection, baby cows really need the colostrum and other nutrients found in the milk provided by their moms.

Holstein calves like me typically double in weight from the time they are one month old to the time that they are 3 months old.  Since I did not have the benefit of being with my mom, I became malnourished.  The dairy farm labeled me a “downer” calf, which basically means that they thought I was too weak to be valuable.  Luckily, I was rescued and nursed me back to health.

When new demands on my rescuer’s time prevented her from being able to care for me the way she wanted to, she made the great and selfless choice of taking me to Heritage Haven.  Now I have a really cool roommate named Sadie.

Meeting Sadie was a real trip for me because I had not seen another cow since I was two weeks old!  I was nervous at first because I was not really sure how to interact with a cow.  Thankfully Sadie is a good teacher and I am a fast learner.  I am so much calmer and more confident now that I am part of a herd!
