Half Blind but finding my way

While Patches history is not fully complete, we know Patches was purchased from an auction in Texas and was brought to California.

Patches had been purchased from the auction to serve as a trail horse. Upon arriving in California, the new owner found Patches to be blind in her left eye, and could not safely ride on trails.  Heritage Haven was able to step in, and rescue Patches.

In July, 2023, Patches had to have enucleation surgery, removing her blind eye, due to rapid deterioration and the inability to manage the level of pain she was experiencing during the deterioration process.

Patches will need years of specialized veterinary care, but she will never have to worry about being sent to another auction due to her lack of eyesight or age.
